About
Dr. Carlson completed her undergraduate with a double major in Biology and Art at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
After her undergraduate, she worked doing cancer research at Exact Science, before attending the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine. During her veterinary studies, she served as the Development Aid Director for the International Veterinary Students’ Association providing crucial funds and scholarship for veterinary schools in underserved nations. Dr. Carlson obtained invaluable surgical experience by volunteering in the spay and neuter clinic at the humane society and by volunteering internationally in Honduras, Norway, and South Africa.
Dr. Carlson completed her surgical mentorship in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She joins WVRC from Eau Claire, Wisconsin where she worked at Northside Pet Hospital serving as an emergency and general practitioner.
On what she enjoys most about working for WVRC…”I have always had a passion for animals and medicine. I chose to focus on emergency medicine so that I could help animals when they are most in need.”

Dr. Carlson’s interests include emergency surgery, toxicology and advanced imaging. She has a special interest in brachycephalic breeds and exotic medicine.
