About
Dr. Hayes earned her BA in neuroscience from Middlebury College in Vermont in 2012 and earned her DVM from UW-Madison’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018.
Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Hayes worked as a research assistant and lab manager at a Harvard affiliate before working as a technical instructor at MIT. During her time there, Dr. Hayes worked closely with the veterinarians on staff and because of their work together, she decided to pursue veterinary medicine. Throughout veterinary school, Dr. Hayes volunteered with WisCARES, an organization that provides veterinary care to pets of disadvantaged community members. She also continued to pursue her interest in research by working part-time as a research assistant and participating in the 2015 Merial Summer Scholars Program.
On what she enjoys most about working at WVRC…”I chose veterinary medicine because it allows me to combine my love for animals and people with my passion for problem-solving and helping others. I was drawn to emergency medicine in particular because of its fast-paced and diverse nature, which offers endless challenges and lifelong learning opportunities.”
