About
Vanessa was born and raised in Ecuador and came to Wisconsin in 2001. Through volunteer and academic experiences, she has been involved with animal welfare and conservation organizations, including care for wild and domestic animals locally and abroad. She joined WVRC in 2014 as an emergency veterinary technician and shortly after joined the Oncology Department, where she became a team lead and later on a clinical supervisor. Most recently she had joined the management team as Hospital Service Manager.
Outside of WVRC, Vanessa co-founded and manages a small non-profit organization called SafeWag which collaborates with rescue organizations from Ecuador to improve animal welfare in urban and rural areas. Some of this collaboration involves traveling with veterinary volunteers to share medical knowledge with local veterinary groups and care for animals.
