About
Dr. (Heaton) Schulz is a board-certified medical oncologist at Wisconsin Veterinary Referral Center. She obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017. After veterinary school, Dr. Schulz completed a small animal rotating internship at the University of Georgia in Athens. She then returned to Madison to complete a three-year residency program in medical oncology at the University of Wisconsin. Along with her colleagues at UW Veterinary Care, Dr. Schulz was featured in the Weathertech Super bowl commercial in 2020 for the cancer care provided to the beloved golden retriever Scout. Dr. Schulz completed her residency program and became board-certified in veterinary medical oncology in 2021.Dr. Schulz’s passion for oncology stems from her goal to support her veterinary patients and their owners using compassion, knowledge, and open communication. She strives to provide the best cancer care possible while focusing on the quality of life of her patients. Dr. Schulz is a member of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, the Veterinary Cancer Society, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. She feels grateful to be a part of the wonderful team at WVRC and hopes to continue to contribute to the field of oncology through clinical work, research, and teaching. Dr. Schulz is interested in comparative medicine and values the collaboration between veterinary and human medicine that benefits both animals and people in the fight against cancer.

Teddy the Texas Street Hound
In her free time, Dr. Schulz enjoys traveling, camping, and hiking with her husband Brenden and their rescue dog Teddy. Teddy, lovingly referred to as their Texas Street Hound, made his way up to Wisconsin to join their family in 2019. Ted’s hobbies include eating peanut butter, barking at FedEx trucks, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers with his mom and dad.
