About
Dr. Severson joined WVRC in 1996 as an Emergency Veterinarian, became the Emergency Services Manager in 2010, and now serves as the Medical Director for the WVRC Waukesha. She helped guide WVRC through its growth from a single overnight emergency service to three 24/7 emergency and specialty referral hospitals. While her main role is providing leadership and support to the medical teams at WVRC Waukesha, she still enjoys emergency and critical care medicine, especially emergency surgery, wound care and the treatment of toxins and trauma. Dr. Severson is also a Fear Free Certified Professional.
Dr. Severson enjoys mentoring veterinary students and recent veterinary graduates. She is an active member of the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Society, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association. She is currently the district 2 representative on the WVMA board. She has served on both the Membership and Continuing Education Committees for the WVMA and was a prior Secretary of the Board for the Veterinary Specialty Practice Alliance.
Dr. Severson enjoys downhill and cross country skiing with her husband, food adventuring with her daughter, sporting events with her sons and running with her Vizslas. If she has alone time, she kayaks, paddle boards and reads late at night.
