Kayla Doucette
About
Dr. Kayla Doucette was born and raised in Milwaukee County. Her love for animals began at a very young age and she wanted nothing else but to be a veterinarian when she grew up. As a child, she had many pets that she spent most of her days playing with including two golden retrievers, gerbils, hamsters, a rat, a chinchilla and a ferret. She spent her high school years volunteering at the humane society, walking dogs, and riding horses. During her undergraduate years, she would shadow at a variety of general practices throughout Wisconsin, both small and large animal oriented.
When applying to veterinary school, she decided to follow her Irish routes and apply to the veterinary school in Dublin. She lived in Dublin for four years and spent her time traveling through Europe, and experiencing the Irish culture while also spending time on many Irish farms helping out during lambing and calving season to deliver baby cows and sheep. Her love for emergency medicine began during veterinary school when she would come home during summers and work at various emergency hospitals in Milwaukee.
During her free time, Dr. Doucette enjoys traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and cuddling with her cat Charming (whose name is only appropriate when she is the one petting him).
