About

Dr. Rebekah Mayhew graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 2017. She went on to complete an Emergency focused internship at WVRC- Waukesha. After completing her internship, she stayed with WVRC. She has a specific interest in emergency surgery, trauma care and operational canine treatment

Dr. Mayhew has a special interest in emergency trauma stabilization and diagnostics. She has championed WVRC to become the only certified trauma center in Wisconsin through the Veterinary Committee on Trauma. She continues the oversee WVRCs role in providing adequate, immediate and thorough trauma care.

Dr. Mayhew also became the Operational Canine Liaison for WVRC-Waukesha. She has developed protocols for handling certified working canines and remains a point of contact for any certified working canine handler and the staff at WVRC. Part of this work is volunteering with the Operational Canine Medical Team of Wisconsin (OPK9 Med Team). This organization is specifically focused on training canine handlers, law enforcement, EMS, fire, and paramedics to treat working canines on the scene of injury and provide recommendation for care and transport.

In her free time Dr. Mayhew enjoys kayaking, camping, overlanding, scuba diving and gardening. She can often be found at local campsites year-round enjoying time outside of work in nature with her husband and dogs.
